On a bright and dry Sunday morning at the Swan centre Bromley Green hosted newly promoted Smarden outfit, Troggs FC.
Green started the brighter side and had the better of the first 15 minutes but were unable to create any close range chances with Troggs keeper, Brown impressingly seeing off some long range efforts. The village side then sprung into life with the midfield trio of Newman, Dyke snr and Moon winning more of the ball and forwards Roffey and Dyke jnr getting a few sniffs up front.
It was Dyke jnr who opened the scoring with a deft finish from 10 yards, typical of the young strikers form this term, after some neat work from
Moon and Roffey down the right gave the clinical youngster his chance.
Troggs then enjoyed plenty of chances as the first half evolved but failed to increase there lead with both front men and Newman all off target.
The second half saw the home side again start brighter and they were rewarded on 60 minutes with Green's nippy right winger getting in behind the Troggs defence and hitting his shot in off the post and the outstretched Brown's hand.
The visitors were then subjected to a spell of pressure from Green but the Trogg's defence stood strong with all the back 5 impressive.
The Troggs then began to find their feet again and after a Newman pass found Carlton (on for Dyke), the veteran midfielder's cross found Roffey's run who slotted from close range off the keeper to retore the away sides lead and hand them a well earned three points after a nervey final 15 minutes.
It was third time lucky for Troggs who have lost out to Bromley Green in the last two attempts. They will now look to push on and talk of a title challenge from the newly promoted side would have been laughed off a few months ago, no one's laughing now. _________________ Root baby root!

Paul you were very good yesterday. You were leader by what you did on the pitch and also liked the chat. Also a mention to tony who i thought was awesome.
There was a togetherness to get a result yesterday and the team spirit is very good.
If we keep working for each other, who knows what we can achieve this season
Cheers Aaron. I appreciate you saying that. I think we should gear ourselves up for a league challenge; Reach for the stars and you might just get there, but if not you'll reach very high trying! Come on you Troggs _________________ Root baby root!
