Smardens newest recruit Michael Hodges could face a lengthy lay off after picking up suspected ankle ligament damage from an innocuous challenge during a training session on Tuesday. The mercurial wing back had earlier called for big performances from his team mates in what he called the ‘crucial’ month of February when the Den face a cup semi final with Yalding, a home tie against run away league leaders Shepway and two further key league fixtures against Ditton and Leeds as the Den look to improve on their faltering league form. Unfortunately it now it looks like he will only be able to shout from the side lines and not impose the attacking threat he has so far been from the right wing back position.

Hodges is set for an x-ray on his damage foot today and the Smarden fans, who have already warmed to the transfer window club record signing, will be hoping that the news is good and that Hodges won’t be out for too long.

On the positive front Arch does welcome back wing back Sam Leggis and Keeper Marcus Pearce to the squad although neither can feature against Yalding as they haven’t played the required league games to be eligible for the cup tie.

Good news the injury is not as bad as first thought. Hope to have a late fitness test next week but more than likely be back for the Shepway game. Thanks for all the get well soon cards and perhaps Dyke might be in line for his first start of the season.

Sweet could do with you back for the Shepway game hodgo. Thanks for your backing, if given the chance I can try to fill your boots in the position I effectively brought you to the club to replace me in.
