Sorry to be so harsh Dykey, please dont take it personally, but i just get a tad fed up with these tawdry little novelty records that do nothing more than promote whoever it is that is producing them put it this way, would you buy it ? No more questions mullord.
Unfortunately it seems theres gonna be shit all else to choose from come June 9th.
The official England song 'world at your feet' is to be badly warbled by everybodies favourite rebel rousing rockers.....er..Embrace. Not since that other World cup giant Scotland, chose Del Amitre to sing their anthem has there been a poorer selection of artiste to raise the nations hopes through song !
Another offering, is a re hash of Jimmy Pursy's 'hurry up harry' by Sham 69, this time cleverly retitled 'hurry up England'. What these people dont seem to get, is that these type of songs are already anthems, there already part of our musical heritage, to do this to them is shameful to say the least. Its always a great shame to see great bands 'selling out' especially great punk bands.
'Watching England win again' by Gaylord and the sweet FA choir, i would guess is another song that would you would find in the 'novelty' section in your local record store, though having not heard this or indeed any of the others i cant say for sure.
Well there you have it, so far not a lot to choose from. Id be interested to read your views on these or any other World Cup songs that may be out there.
