After the morale boosting victory against Headcorn. Could Smarden record back to back victories, for the first time in 2007. Surely we would not have a better opportunity. At home versus a poor Wheatsheaf Celtic side.

The day didn’t start well, with the shock news, that ex-Charlton starlet, Andy Jones has hung up his boots. We all hope this was a spare of the moment decision and we’ll see the “Welsh Wonder” turn out in the famous blue shirt, in the near future. Smarden would also be without casualties from “The Battle of Cornes Meadow” Carty, Adam Oliver and Lee. Adding to Steve’s problems, was the news, frontman Adam Roffey, was poorly and unable to play. In the end Steve went with a 4-4-2 formation. With Ben Gibbs replacing Roffey in attack. This was an obvious choice as Steve said, “Ben NEVER lets me down” No pressure Gibbo!

The match got under way. Only just though as the pitch had more than its fair share of massive puddles. Memories of Otford came flooding back. Flooding. Get it? Puddles. Wet. Flooding……nevermind. The match got under way and I’m sick of writing this. We got off to a slow start. AGAIN! Celtic were passing the ball at pace, with Smarden chasing shadows for the first 15 minutes or so. Gradually Smarden started to see more of the ball and began to cause some problems for the Celtic defence. With chances falling to all five offensive players. The goals came thick and fast and it was 3-0 before the hour mark. One for Pearce and two for Gibbo. Celtic did get one in reply, but the 3 points were safe. Adding the gloss to a job well done, was another goal for man of the match, Gibbo, who completed his hat-trick and in doing so, fully justifying Steve ”Mourinho” Oram’s decision to start him up front. Final score 4-1 to the Boys in blue.

There are couple of things I’d like to add. The referee gave bookings to Dykey and Log. I still can’t understand why. The only thing they were guilty of was winning the ball in every tackle they made. So what if the opponent got hurt from time to time. It’s a mans game for Christ’s sake. Stop being so picky referees! My other point was near the end of the game, there was crowd trouble, not for the first time this season, which resulted in a fan being ejected from the Tim Archer Stand. We ask our loyal supporters to keep their eyes peeled and notify a steward of any wrong doing. Thank you.

''Steveo Mourinho'' the special one ! Laughing

On a serious note, the crowd trouble was dissapointing. What was worse was the fact that this immature behaviour was to be immitated and indeed worsen the very next day at a showpiece event in Cardiff as poor little Fabregras was pelted violently with, and wait for it..................celery !
So come Smarden fans, behave yourselves, the world is watching Shocked

Embarassed

Top match report big man! Steve O is very special i have to have to say!! I feel i have justified my 5yrdassassin name with a total yardage of my goals this weekend!! But as Divvy tought me..."You have to be there to score 'em"!!! Thanks for the run steve and i'll look forward to the match report!! Wink

On a more serious note I need to apologise for the remarks toward the referee after being taken off... If the ref had heard correctly then he would have been more clear on what had transpired.. Will actually had turned to myself on the sidelines and said.."2 fish and a nun walked into a bar...." to which I replied..."thats a f*cking joke ref!!"... obviously just bringing it to his attention.. He didn't hear it correctly and the rest is history.. Apparently he doesn't want to come to Smarden again?? Oh well!!! Good job there are so many 'nicer' venues to ref in this league!!!! We'll see him at Mote Park and Dog shit alley then!! However.. cheers Will.. I owe you a beer.. maybe over this Fridays cribbage match!?

Cool

Yeah great report again Stocks, disagree with Log and Dykey maybe harsh to get booked for the tackles at the time but persistant fouling in the "refs" mind
Good result thou boys
