Smarden earnt a hard fought point at the weekend with a 1-1 draw with Leeds SV.

Things look to be going well for Smarden in the first half when newman broke down the right and placed a perfect ball onto law man's head only for the clubs leading scorer to fail to find the net. Moon pounced on the rebound and also hit the keeper but then law finally tapped in for 1-0.

Dyke Snr, already harshly booked for an early challenge, then gave away a penalty barely clipping the attacker from behind when the defence backed off and allowed him into the box.

Luckily for Dyke and Smarden, the Leeds striker placed his spot kick wide of Kitneys right hand post.

Later into the second half with Smarden on the back foot for much of the time, Leeds finally found a way back into the match with their number 10 bundling a ball in from close range although suspicion of contact from newman might have it as an o.g. doing all he could to prevent it going in.

Kitney produced a wonder save diving backwards to turn a 20 yard drive over the bar and summed up smardens resilience keeping the score to 1-1.

The introduction of Dyke Jnr on for Dyke Snr, Dyer on for Batt ensured the point but couldn't produce the magic to snatch the win.

The draw keeps Smarden ahead of leeds in third place in the league. With Shepway having only lost to smarden and eccles yet to lose, its looks as though the den will be battling it out for third spot with leeds and hunton.

Smarden 1 - 1 Leeds
line up (3-5-2 wingbacks) Kitney, Hodges, Loppy, Hollingsbee, Batt (Dyer 70), Dyke (Dyke Jnr 65), Carty, Newman, Eels, Moon, Law
Goal: Law
Booked: Dyke Snr

The den have 5 league games remaining including fixtures against eccles and shepway and can amass 32 points in their bid to challenge for top spots. March will be a pivotal month as it brings 3 league fixtures, a cup final and a cup semi (sat 14th)
