This time last season smarden were licking the wounds after being dumped out the weald of kent cup semi final by woodstock park despite a valiant second half effort to overcome a 3-0 half time defecit. They also feilded what would these days be considered a weakened side.

This year the semi finals have come around again and again Smarden face woodstock park. This time the county leaguers travel to the intimidating atmosphere at cornes meadow and come 3pm saturday, the smarden faithfull should be in full voice.

Arch has an almost full strength squad to pick from with Dave Law expected to make a 5 man bench following a 4 week lay off with an ankle injury.

Woodstock play in the county league Division 2 East and are currently 2nd in the league going well. Further inspection of the league table however would suggest that 11 draws and a goal difference of just +17 compared to their rivals is not that great and with the memory of last years game they are certainly beatable.

Smarden know this is the time to perform, another shot at a final which shouldn't be passed up lightly. As the season draws to crunch time on both saturday and sunday.
