Smarden lost out in what has become a mid season mini series against Hunton. Playing the Maidstone side for the 3rd fixture in a row, having beaten them 3-1 in the cup and lost 2-1 in the league, Smarden were hoping to claim the mini series and improve their league form but went down 3-2 at home.
Another performance no where near the form that the den were producing early on in the season. A late rally came with the introduction of Dyke, Moon and Dyer on for Chunk, Eels and Gibbs, but goals from Law and an og resulting from a Moon corner were not enough as the all too familiar January slump continued.
Archers Men will be hoping to stop the rot this coming Saturday as they face the Paul Butcher Challenge Cup Semi Final against Division 1 side Yalding. The Match will be played at a Neutral venue in Sutton Valence 2pm kick off. Smarden beat Yalding last season in Division 1 but a much changed side has won 4 and lost 2 of their 6 games league games this season and have beat AFC Biddenden 2-1, East Malling 5-1 and Cobdown 2-1 on route to the semi final and will pose a big threat to Smardens hopes of silverware and a cup final day out.
Smarden cruised into the semi’s with a 6-0 win over Saxon Chief and a 3-1 victory over Hunton and are hoping to book a place in the final against the winner of Shepway vs Blue Eagles.
