Hodges deal moves a step closerThe on/off move of Kennington's Michael Hodges finally appears to be drawing closer to a conclusion today after the player was spotted out with Troggs captain and Smarden regular Paul Newman and head scout George Dyke. Hodges, who was seen out in Ashford with the Smarden pair, would be a very welcome addition to the squad as he is an extremely versatile player.
It is well known Dyke has been tracking the player for over a year now and nearly completed the swoop in the summer only for deal to fall through at the last minute.
Should Smarden land hodge, it is thought they would have to smash thier transfer record as he is believed to be available for around 4 pints.
When quizzed by journalists Dyke quipped "My meeting my Michael Hodges last night was purely a social one and should not be read into too much".
Newman, who the baying paparazzi caught up with outside his Hythe Road mansion, added "I like turtles" to leave the vast majority of the press bemused.
There was no comment from Hodges or his agent Scott 'long' Harden. The summer's longest running transfer saga continues...watch this space

HODGES HANDS IN TRANSFER REQUEST
An Insider source has told troggsfc.co.uk that Micheal Hodges has handed in a transfer request following his sides 6-1 defeat at the hands of Bromley Green on saturday. If the reports are true its the biggest indication yet that the long awaited deal may be going through. Hodges is believed to be disillusioned with life at the club on and off the pitch and now wants to be allowed his dream move to Smarden FC.

Football Writer Danny The Frogs Osborne had this to say
I saw the game on Saturday and thought Michael 'Hot Dog' Hodges was excellent throughout.
I believe he could bring Smarden onto the next level with his dynamic and consistent displays in the heart of the team.
Comfortable at Centre Back, Centre Mid or Support Striker. Nothing fazes the little man. He is also very comfortable playing down either flank and has been known to provide a few assists from wide areas.
He is a true professional and an old school Utility player of the highest calibre.
His performance in Strawberry Moons later that night after the game showed the energy he could bring to a team like Smarden . . . .the chase continues!
Osborne is believed to be acting as hodges' agent for the potential move to smarden
