Hoardes of Smarden fans have been protesting across the nation in an effort to urge Manager Pete Nayden to re-sign veteran Striker Marcus Pearce. Pearce is leading the goal charts for the Troggs on a Sunday and many, including Smarden's own vice captain George Dyke believe he is the man to end Smardens poor run of form; "Pearce is pure class and doesn't seem to be showing any signs of age, despite being well into his 40's. I have spoken to Moon, who insists Marcus would be his ideal partner, which I assume he meant in a football sense, but you never can tell with Moon."

Dyke's next job will be to convince Nayden to give Pearce the call, and he knows time is against him. Pearce commented "I got the call from Tenterden this week again to help them out on a Saturday. I turned it down once more as I know where my heart lyes. But you can only wait for so long."
