Smarden march on.Smarden followed up there thumping of league leaders Shepway with a convincing 4 - 0 home win over Ditton United. Although the home side started a little sluggishly they soon picked up and it wasn't long before Dave 'The Lawman' Law put them in front. Some neat work down the left from wing back Michael Hodges lead to the second after his run and pass into Matt Dyke's feet. Dyke flicked the ball on to advancing midfield dynamo Paul Newman who slotted from 12 yards.
The Lawman then doubled his tally with a neat finish on 30 minutes to put the 'Den firmly in charge and left Ditton looking down the barrel at another league defeat and many would say relegation.
Hodge then rounded off the rout with his second goal of the campaign and Smarden's fourth of the day with a precise finish into the bottom right corner.
The second half could and certainly should have brought more goals but the finishing dwindled and Smarden squandered many chances, Matt Dyke and Dave Law mostly responsable.
4 - 0 on paper doesn't tell the story of this very one sided game but it is another victory for the village team who face Leeds away this Saturday and then a cup final with league leaders Shepway on the 12th March. Once again a village holds it's breath in anticipation of great things from it's football team.
