The Smarden money men seem desperate to land effervescent forward Adam Roffey and have offered him a goal bonus to prize him away from Hamstreet. The deal, believed to be as much as treble figures, would require Roffey to be playing for both Smarden and Troggs and to hit 20 goals per day, something that the confident young striker believes he can do if he gets the starts he feels he deserves.
With Smardens first league game just 5 days away, it remains to be seen if Roffey will be involved and many have doubts that Tim Archers men are fully prepared for the coming season after a somewhat sketchy pre season which culminated in a 2-0 loss to Division 1 outfit West Farleigh.

Rumours are unearthing from Smarden that Hamstreet striker, Adam Roffey, has put pen to paper on a lucrative 1 year deal with his boyhood club Smarden FC. The players agent Spankus Frank was spotted at the clubs Smarden post office head quarters around 4pm today where it is thought the contract was finalised. The deal, thought to be worth around £100 in bonuses was made possible because of the backing from two unnamed Smarden businessmen. It is thought an official announcemnt will follow from the club within 48 hours.
