In conditions cold enough to freeze the balls off an arctic monkey these two teams provided a goalfest to warm the hardy souls ( mugs ) on the touchline.

With two minutes gone in the second half and leading by four goals to one, it was Bethersdens tie to lose, and how they tried !
Only poor finishing and a linesman who had very little or indeed no understanding of the offside rule prevented the scoreline being very different.

To be fair the wind blowing with a storm force straight down the middle prevented any free flowing football, but Highfeild exploited these conditions by getting the ball forward quickly and pulled the score back to four two with a well taken chip on the angle.
Bethersden responded well though and playing mainly on the break added to their score with two more well taken strikes to run out winners by six goals to two. It was at a price though with a Bethersden player taken to hospital with a suspected broken ankle.

The win means Bethersden will be THE MIGHTY TROGGS opponents in the 'ppmt' final at a venue yet to be confirmed.

On a day difficult for football it is unfair to be too critical of either team, however i didn't see anything to worry MR Newman & his stella squad. Thats not to say we should take the game lightly, for as they proved today the Bethersden players know where the net is !

As a footnote, on the adjacent pitch Ashford Eagles lost by two goals to one to an Ashford Boro' side who were reduced to ten men with only fifteen minutes gone, after one of their players was red carded for fighting.

Off to the pub now to warm up & get some much needed liquid refreshment !

Who's Mighty Morphin?! stevo?

Troggs Trusty Assistant manager George Dyke Also managed to crawl out of bed for the second half (i was hiding in my coat and didn't see the other scout)

Missed most of the goals, I thought Highfield could have and should have got back in the game at 4-2 but they failed to make their chances pay. Bethersden are a good side but by no means unbeatable. Lets just hope moon doesn't bottle it!

Good news on eagles losing though we have to watch out for boro. If they can turn eagles over with ten men they must be improving!! They have enough games in hand to catch us and get very close to eagles. Two of their games are against us tho....
