After the pain of our cup exit to Lenham, could Smarden make amends by continuing the fine league form of recent weeks. In the way were Addington, who are currently occupying one of the promotion spots. It was always going to be a tricky tie, when you throw in the gusty weather and appalling pitch. Which was smaller than a table football one and steeper than many of the red runs, we came across in Italy a couple of weeks ago.
The match started with……you guessed it. A SLOW START FROM SMARDEN!!!!!! Addington bossed the play and created the vast majority of the openings. After twenty minutes, it came of no surprise when Addington took the lead. Five minutes later, that lead had doubled and it was looking bleak. Smarden needed a lifeline and it came from sharp-shooter Marcus Pearce, who nearly burst the net with a half-volley from eight yards. With ten minutes of the first half to go, Smarden had a massive dose of good fortune, with a truly comical goal. Their centre-half was caught in two minds. Boot it out or pass back to the keeper? With Richard Moon breathing down his neck, he panicked and over hit his back pass. With the keeper stranded, Moon made no mistake from fully thirty inches. Half-time was approaching and it looked like Smarden were the team with the upper hand. Unfortunately Addington delivered a sucker punch (not for the last time in this match) and went in 3-2 to the good.
The second half was a carbon copy of the first. Every time Smarden looked to be getting into the match, Addington just kept pulling away. The game finished 6-4 to Addington. Moon and Adamson netted the two second half goals for the ‘Den. The real turning point of the game came at 5-4. Gibbs was clean through on goal and knocked the ball past the Addington keeper, who took out the speedy winger with one hell of a shite challenge. Penalty? No. For the second time in two matches, Smarden were robbed by a shocking decision. What do you think happened next? Correct you are. Two minutes later, they get a penalty. Game over.
Everyone knows what happened near the end of the match, so I won’t bother writing about it. The main issues are we lost three points. Scored four goals away from home, but conceded six. Finally, the potential loss of Gibbs for the remaining games, with which looked like a pretty serious ankle injury. All, in all. A day to forget.

Yup good report Big man... Hows the eye looking? Can also take alot the team spirit again to come from behind and keep going on that shit pitch .. Bring on Malgo!!!! Anyone heard if those tossers have been kicked out the league yet? ...... ps Defo penalty... my ankle is still protesting to that cunt of a ref.... Crying or Very sad

good report as always. That pitch was fecking awful. Can't believe he didn't give that peno.

I think lops has spoken to the league and Marcus has written to them, lets hope they do the right thing
