Some might say, this was a game of no real importance. We let all hopes of promotion slide away, with a 4-0 defeat at home to Saturday’s opponents, Malgo. We were merely playing for places in the upcoming semi against Woodstock Park. On the contrary. Malgo required a win to gain promotion to the Premier, while we on the other hand needed to turn in a good display, to gain confidence, so by the time we face Woodstock Park, we’ll be firing on all cylinders.

With all the absentees and injuries. Matt Dyke and The Pogues front-man’s scruffier English cousin were drafted into the starting XI. In his first start for Smarden, it was Matt Dyke who exploded onto the scene, with a goal taken as cool, as an eskimo sucking on a ice lolly. Oh, by the way. He scored his goal after 8 SECONDS! Cementing his name in Smarden FC folklore, with surely the quickest goal in the clubs history.

The game was a real corker for the crowd, who shunned the beach to watch this hum-dinger of a match, in the lovely sunshiiiiiiiine. We took the lead. They took the lead. Great goals. Shite goals. Martial arts. It had the lot. The great goals were scored by us and the shite goals by them. Shite, because their goals came from our own mistakes. Much like the last time we played them. Our goals however oozed class. Matt Dyke as you know bagged the first and so nearly grabbed his second, with a delicate chip that came back off the bar. In between that Andy Adamson, hit a beaut of a free-kick. Smashing the ball through the wall and past the keeper, before he had a chance to blink. Adamson doubled his tally, when he timed his run to perfection and guided the ball past the on-rushing keeper into the empty net.

In the second half, Malgo had to push forward. They needed to win. They added to their goals in the first period and were soon 4-3 to the good. Unfortunately we didn’t respond particularly well. With only Carty showing any urgency, in his play. Log spiced things up, by kung-fu kicking one of their players and earning himself a yellow card in the process. His was a flange, so we’ll forgive Log for that one. With time running out. Moony missed a glorious opportunity. When through on goal, instead of shooting or passing to the un-marked maggot, he chose to flick the ball into the keeper’s arms…bugger. So into the final minute and a defeat looked on the cards. That was until Adamson broke through the Malgo rear-guard to score a carbon copy of his second goal and celebrated with some high fives with the Smarden contingent. Final score 4-4. Andy Adamson edged the MOM award for his wonderful hat-trick.

On a whole. Not a bad performance. Yes we conceded four goals, but hey, I’m sure the mistakes will be eradicated, by the time Saturday’s match comes round. Going forward we were superb. Put in the same performance, without the mistakes. I see a pretty torrid afternoon in store for Wheatsheaf Celtic….mwah..ha..ha..haaaaa.

I also want to apologise for my crap performance, i'm still claiming man flu/slight cold didn't help but if you can not be in a game for 88 minutes then provide a killer (/hopefull) through ball for the equaliser, then really I have to be accomodated. Me and moon aren't allowed to play average!

George and Moon are not aloud to play average! I don't ming you guys playing average but fucking shit is unacceptable. When 2 of our "so called" best players are over shadowed by me in the centre of park you know you've played shit. Stop trying to make excuses and admit that you were shit!

Oh yeah and I agree with you here (I think) ...stop putting me in the best players bracket! team game, we're all essential! but then moon and andy really are quite good.

As discussed with stocks and moon on the pitch...its true i'm often in the top 22 players on the pitch

Well spotted Dykey! I was indeed listening to the mighty Oasis. As well as the lyric Sunshiiiiiine and the song Some Might Say, i put in another Oasis song. Can you spot it?
