Depsite the dissapointing 4th finish in a lacklustre league campaign, Smarden could still get promoted to the Maidstone Prem. With a couple of premier sides opting for the County league next season the premier division may only 7or8 teams by default so Smarden could be added to make up the numbers. The Villagers haven't particularly deserved promotion this season but would welcome a shot at the prem as they know they can play better against the better teams and can hopefully prove it over a season. Premier division football may also serve them well in the transfer market with long term target Paul Burt looking set to sign for division 1 rivals biddenden, could premier division football and a Dave Law partnership temped him down the road to smarden.
